Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you;
he is the Messiah, the Lord.
This will be a sign to you:
You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.
Luke 2:11-12
Let the stable still astonish
Straw — dirt floor, dull eyes
Dusty flanks of donkeys, oxen;
Crumbling, crooked walls;
No bed to carry that pain
And then, the child,
Rag-wrapped, laid to cry
In a trough.
Who would have chosen this?
Who would have said “Yes,”
“Let the God of all the heavens
And earth
Be born here, in this place”?
Who but the same God
Who stands in the darker, fouler rooms
of our hearts
and says “Yes,”
“Let the God of Heaven and Earth
be born here –
in this place.”

You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.
2 Corinthians 8:9
Sharing with you the wonder of the miracle . . . the gift of the Lord born in our dark hearts. It's our own rags to riches story.
Have a Blessed Christmas and New Year!

*The photo was taken at a recent visit to the live nativity in Christmas Town at the Creation Museum in Kentucky. I highly recommend the trip!*

I love how you tied the verses and poem together. "Who would have chosen this?" --- only by "the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ..." It makes it all so poignant, especially when we realize it was all for us, to save us. Thank you Lord!
What a lovely photograph...my family hopes to some day travel to the Creation Museum.
A Merry Christmas to you and yours!
God is laying His gift on our hearts through the verses tonight.
Wow,this was awesome! Thanks so much.

That picture is beautiful. And the words are too.
First off, I am SO jealous that you live close to the Creation Museum! Texas is too far to travel right now!
I love the Scripture that you chose. Very nice.
Thanks for visiting my blog! Merry Christmas.
WOW, amen and wonderful blessings to you Glowin' Girl!!!
One great GIFT wrapped with a beautiful message and choice of photo, word, poem, and Word again!
Thank you for the REAL life example of showing us our "rags to riches" story! I'm so blessed by this!
May you also enJOY a blessed and merry rejoicing this CHRISTmas and New Year!
Peace and love in Jesus,
Peggy
Beautiful. He truly uses things that seem foolish to confound the wise. Not many would have chosen the King of Kings to be born in such a place.
Amen! what a gift! our salvation.
Merry Christmas! Beautiful post!
Yes, the wonder of the Miracle...
A baby born to live - for us.
A Savior born to die - for us.
Praise God for the gracious gift of the Messiah - our dear Lord Jesus!
Have a WONDER-full Christmas.
GOD BLESS!
This is absolutely beautiful, the poem, the picture, the message.
To think that He, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, would choose to dwell in our dark, cold hearts as He did in that dark, cold manger long ago.
This reminder is a true tresure and a gift that awakens me to my true weath in Him.
Merry Christmas!
Debra
