And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
1 Kings 19:11-12
God whispers.
He leans near and speaks softly, gently, closely.
He breathes words of life and love and truth into our lives.
Let's still ourselves and listen for Him -- this one called Immanuel, God with us. Let's not miss Him because we are waiting for the grand, earth-shattering signs and trumpeting voice.
He entered the world quietly once, and continues to speak softly to our hearts today.
Listen.

I love the story of Elijah, and I love how God spoke to Him on this particular story, God whispers, yes that's what i need right now, His whisper, telling me"everything will be okey because I am always here for you"
love the picture too!

Amen. May we all quiet and still ourselves so we are able to listen for His voice. It reminds me of a time when I was teaching some of my older children to be still. Alas, in this busy world full of sounds and things that easily distract, we all need to be reminded to be still. Beautiful post!
i need to be still....i miss the quiet assuring voice of God. and it's not because he's not still speaking to me...it's because i'm bring too noisy about everything else to hear.
thank you for this lovely reminder that God is always with us and speaks to us. :)
Really beautiful photo!
I too love this story of Elijah and how God deals with depression and weariness...I keep meaning to find somewhere to have a house name made...and call my home Cherith, in memory of that brook where Elijah found water etc......and there was that wonderful still small voice.
A beautiful picture. Thanks for the reminder that God still whispers to us. May the sounds and voices around us grow dim so that we can hear His voice.
Blessings to you this WFW!
I have also always loved this biblical account of God speaking. I so often need this reminder to be still, quiet my soul and listen! Thanks for sharing today. The picture is perfect!!
This gave me chills...INDEED, He whispers...
Leans in.

I wish for all to find a moment of peace to contemplate not only the season but all that God has done for them
I hope that I can be still and listen to His voice.
Have a blessed CHRISTmas!

I don't believe I recalled this experience of Elijah's....thank you for reminding me! Your photo is a wonderful illustration, too.
Blessings Glowin' Girl... This indeed is a picturesque photo for a wonderful verse! Let us lean near and hear His whisper not wait! For He is God with us... I love this:
"He entered the world quietly once, and continues to speak softly to our hearts today."
Beautiful connection to last week's WFW to LISTEN from Isaiah! I wanted to leave a comment there also, because I think I missed this last week...but it was still loading the rest with comments... beautiful word for us both weeks for our hearts to HEAR. Do you hear what I hear??? (I hope your ear is better and healing is coming)!
Christ's peace,
Peggy
Amen, He often speaks this way.
GREAT word!! Love your blog, and thanks so much for stopping by today.
I've missed you♥
I love the fact that He takes the time to whisper to us. To me that means patience, and gentleness and soft love.
When we whisper it is only for the listening ears of those we are whispering to almost like a secret.
Be Still and Know that I am God.
Lord help our busy hearts to calm down and be quiet.
Amen. beautiful reminder. Love the pic too.
I agree that God often whispers. Sometimes we don't pay attention and then He may shout!
Beautiful! May we slow down & listen for His whisper. Blessings to you this WFW!
I have often been guilty of wanting the noisy, mountain-top experience with my Lord. It's so special, so personal, when I still myself and hear a gentle, quiet word from Him. Thanks for this. stopping by from WFW. blessings on your day!
Thank you for this lovely word.
May God teach me how to be still enough to hear His whisper...
His Word still speaks to those who will listen.
GOD BLESS!
I like the verse and your commentary on it, but also like the picture a lot. Fits with where I used to live. If you took it, can I use it as an illustration for an article? I'll link back here with credit.
Merry Christmas

Ah, beautiful. Yes. Listen. Be still and know. Just breathe Him in. Just be.
Things I must remind myself of always and yet I know He is always there, whispering.
What a writer you are, dear friend...
