One of our favorite things to do as a family is to
head to a state park and hit the trails.
We love the being-together in the big outdoors.
We pack a picnic and spend the day
enjoying the beauty and the fun of nature.
Of course, these days, it's more of a leisurely stroll than a vigorous hike
since The Princess does not like her (very pricey) pack.
But it's okay. It forces us to slow down and enjoy the details that
the Creator has hidden quietly amid the trees.
And as we step away from the rush and step into the quiet of the trees,
we step nearer to each other's hearts.
It's Friendly Friday. I ask; you answer.
How do you step closer to your family?
Please share. I really want to know.

Just by getting away from the computer and working in the yard together or playing tennis or taking our dog to the park.
Your state park trails sound like fun. We love getting out to local parks too, even in midst of London where we live there are loads of green spaces for kids to roam.
First time visitor to your blog from SITS, nice to meet you. Come round anytime at

Looks like fun. beautiful place. love the pictures (: It's been a long time since I've had a family trip since my mom just came home yesterday from her month long trip to thailand.. so yeah. But yeah I'd just like to do something with the whole family gatherd: playing, walking, biking, watching films and other stuff (:
I love this reminder - being out with nature reminds us of the simplicity of life and the chance for us to celebrate it - together.
For me, quality time spent together is paramount.
Just found your blog... what a delight!
There is something about being outside together, with no electronics and no busy-ness. My family, and now just the two of us as the children have grown, goes camping. Tent camping, cooking over the fire, listening to rain and birds and quiet conversation in the moonlight. *sigh*
WOW that waterfall is AWESOME! I love nature that includes some form of water!!
Family time: We love nature walks, family meals and devotions, family day where we make an adventure to share (even if that adventure is cleaning out the pool :) We always watch movies as a family as well.

It seems to be the simple free things that the kids enjoy the most! Game night, pizza and popcorn in the family room, smores on the grill, football in the backyard or basketball on the driveway.
There is NO de-stresser better than playing with the Kids! (Unless they are misbehaving lol!)
Great pictures! Thanks for sharing!

Ahh..Beautiful words - "as we step away from the rush and step into the quiet of the trees, we step nearer to each other's hearts." Now THAT? Is some stunning writing. Love it.
