Last weekend was full of blessing. Saturday, The Princess and I attended the shower of my brother's bride-to-be. The Princess will be the flower girl in their wedding. . . we hope. As I've said before, at least she'll dress the part. And I have the honor and delight of being a bridesmaid (I get to play dress-up!). The happy day is in June, and we're all looking forward to it.
(Isn't she lovely?)
The Bride's birthday, along with several other family members, including The Stinker's, is in May (today, in fact). So my parents invited her family to join our crazy crew for a birthday bash down at the picnic site my dad has been creating. He's picked a beautiful spot on the farm where the creek runs through, and there is the perfect combination of open space and shade.
My dad has installed rope swings (one for getting wet and one for staying dry), a volleyball net, a basketball goal, a two-seater swing and a baby swing. He's built a screened shelter house for stashing food and a fire pit for roasting it. It's party-perfect.
There was a moment as my favorite middle nephew was playing in the creek with Baby Girl (they are crazy about each other) that my heart was overwhelmed with blessing, and I just had to lift a hand in quiet praise.
It was a moment, a day, a weekend of complete happiness. And I owe that happiness and those gifts to the Giver of all good things, the Father of heavenly lights.
And you? What has made you happy this week?
Please share some happy. It's Friendly Friday, after all, and I really want to know.
*Today I'm joining Amanda for Friday Focus. She's a sweet, creative friend in Australia who invited me to join a new group in which to share how God has worked in our lives that week. Go visit!*

The sunshine and warmer temperatures make me very very happy! Also, having such a good blogging friend as Mountain Woman who promotes my book for me on an ongoing basis.
Thanks for sharing that and for joining in. I think its very important to sit back and take note of our blessings. Keeps us grounded.

Oh, those moments of heart-swelling gratitude make life worth it. Thank you for visiting today and for your thoughtful comment!
Wow, what a terrific picnic spot. Your father sounds like an amazing man, probably has something to do with the person you are today :)
My week had some ups and downs that I wasn't so proud of. I let my temper get the best of me and my attitude wasn't always positive but Monday was a day I will cherish for the rest of my life.
I took all three of my small children (4,3 & 1) to Sea World by myself. It was teh first day they were open on a weekday for the season and many schools were still in session so we really had teh place almost all to ourselves. My children were beaming and I was too. We shared special connections with the dolphins, got splashed by a few whales, even got caught in a mini tsunami. We shared some frozen lemonade, toddled around teh park and then delighted ourselves in the toddler water area.
Best day out we've ever had together, I'm so grateful God granted me the chance to spend my days with them and that my husband stands behind my decision to not work until they are in school.
I love my life right now :) If only I could keep that thought front and center in my mind
Party-perfect sounds right...what a great time!
I agree with the first commenter - the sunshine has been such a blessing this week!
Also, I was in search of the perfect black and white dress for a business black and white dinner party my husband and I are attending. I walked into the consignment shop and there in front of me was the cutest black and white dress in MY size!
I'm so blessed I feel guilty at times!
Great post - loved the pics!

She is lovely, and I like her dress!
Hmmm. I'm happy that I got to visit my mom and grandma. It was a short visit, but it was so good to see them.
What an awesome picnic spot! The little blessings God sends our way are so often overlooked aren't they? More often than not, however, they're the ones we remember the most. Peace. :)
SITS visiting & blog following.
I love the creek!
I was happy last night when my husband told me that I sure do make the best spaghetti... I really stink at cooking so this is a major compliment!
And little boy's grad program at school today...they were all so darn cute.
And I didn't have to go to White Castle today either- yay!
Stopping in from SITS...love your inspirational Friday! What made me happy this week? Besides going to the American Idol Finale...just knowing my two kids are happy and healthy! Can't wait to read more!
Watching my kids play outside together and seeing my daughter hug her little brother just because... not for a picture, not for mommy, just because she wanted to. That made me happy this week!
What a precious post! I am so blessed this week to have seen God answer specific prayers about the direction we need to take in ministry. My husband is a pastor and as we've been praying for God's will, He is placing the right people in the right places at the right time... it's been unbelieveable this week!
What a wonderful post. It's amazing how many blessings we can find when we take the time to look. Have a wonderful weekend.
We have had the most gorgeous weather in Alaska, and every time I have looked outside this week I have just seen and felt God all around... it's been perfect!
Side note: the bride to be has the most adorable dress ever on! I love it!
sounds wonderful... :)
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
