As the older, wiser one, I watched her do things first and wanted to be like her. Yet, I was scared too. Fearing being compared to her and falling short, I ran quick sprints while she ran the distance. She did the high jump, so I jumped long. She sings (beautifully); I play the piano.
We shared vacations, Christmases, handmade sweaters and dolls, bicycling accidents, homemade ice cream, Fox and Geese, and days at the beach. We played with make up and hair. She danced "The Monster Mash" and let me sleep with her favorite doll the night before my first day of kindergarten. As we grew, I begged to wear her clothes, and she complained that I ruined them. But she usually gave in.
She has my heart, my admiration and my fierce love. And I know I have hers as well.
Happy birthday to my talented, intelligent, beautiful sis. You're still livin' tall.

Aren't sisters the best? I have two that I love dearly....that was a very nice tribute to your sis on her birthday!
That first pic looks like an 89er day costume. Is it? I mean, there is no way.
Beautiful tribute, blessing for your sis.

...just realized - it's not your friend but your sister...that's even better. My girls are 19 and 15 and they LOVE each other. Maybe they will one day write a post like yours
I love this post! You just reminded me of the fact that I have never blogged about my amazing sisters! I really need to do that! Thanks for the inspiration!

Beautiful tribute to your sis...
How precious of a post is this... Gotta adore that sisterly love.
I always wanted a sister growing up... I love this! And happy birthday to your sister!
Oh, your post made me weepy it was so sweet! My oldest son's birthday is today - and his next brother is 6 years younger! You wouldn't think it, but the youngest would always steal his brothers clothes, mess with his Legos - and he just wanted to always be where he was and do whatever he was doing! The younger is trying to forge his own trail, his own path and become his own self - and sometimes that has meant making opposite choices just to be different. Did you ever struggle like that - or is it just a boy thing?
What a beautiful tribute to your sister, though! I love the "girl" language, so missing at my house:)
What a wonderful post.
I'm stopping by from SITS to say hello.
That's just beautiful!
